Responsible breeders are not just defined by rather or not you may have a dog or two or even more, that hits the ring .. It is defined by the clubs you belong to, the educational functions you attend to learn the craft of breeding better dogs. It's defined by the health tests you do to protect your kennel and the breed. In helping the person who is looking for that new " Best Friend" to share their homes and life with, a responsible breeder should give you references to check on us! - they should give you names to call of people they have sold to, both pet and show prospect, owners, who have dealt with you and can tell the people the best and worse that they have had to deal with you and the dogs that they have gotten from you. We, as a consumers do research when we are out to buy material things such as cars, homes, computers and major appliances...When buying a purebred dog, it should be like buying something as major as a home.. Heck, some dogs live longer than we live in a house, certainly they live longer than cars last and look at the care that most people put into those purchases. These are some of the things we as responsible breeders need to be letting the people who approach us as potential buyers know to look for, when they are looking to purchase their next best friend.  Do you homework on finding that Responsible breeder who will be there for you and the Dog you will be sharing your life with for the next 10 to 17 or more years.  If you come across a Breeder of Siberians that Advertises a "Rare color" only Blue eyes, a coat length or texture that is not described in the standard as being a correct one by the written Standard, don't do Cerf or OFA certification you are leaving yourself open to the potential of having a very unpleasant experience with the purchase of a loving pet that should bring you pleasure and a life time of enjoyment.

DON'T BUY ON IMPULSE, BUY RESPONSIBLY, FOR THE WELFARE OF BOTH THAT "BEST FRIEND" YOU WILL BE SHARING YOUR LIFE WITH  AND YOURSELF.

We breed very seldom, when we do it is to continue the lines for Terra Neva Siberians.  Of Course, this means that there are always puppies available for others to consider owning from our litters.  All our breeding stock are x-ray's and a canine ophthalmologist gives certification of clear eyes before we breed.  We believe that all our puppies should be house raised to insure that they will adapt to their new environments with very little adjustments to their new surroundings.  They normally are at least paper trained and have heard and seen what goes on in a home. All puppies sold with breeder contracts, for the protection of all parties, but first and foremost the dogs themselves. All of our pet/companions are sold on limited AKC papers with Spay/neuter contracts.  We adhere to the code of ethics of the Siberian Husky Club of America.

When we breed we don't just breed to win in the show ring.  We breed to conform to the Breed Standard, as closely as is possible. We believe in the adage "Form Follows Function" breeding carefully to keep the attributes a Siberian needs to perform as a working sled dog,

as well as a dog that can also achieve recognition in the Show ring.

Yet, we always remember that the temperament as a companion must be the first consideration.

It is time to move on to other aspects of the dog world for me.  Now, that I am judging, I have decided to place the dogs that are of breeding age on co-ownerships and watch from the sidelines.  There will be no more litters at Terra Neva.

I can still be contacted for information about Terra Neva bred dogs who have either been breed or will be at:
